WE NEED VOLUNTEERS!
Fine Cell Work is very eager to hear from any keen stitchers who might be interested in chatting to us about the possibility of going in to HMP Wakefield in Yorkshire to teach our group of male stitchers there. The group is well established and is full of very able men but currently no teacher is visiting and they would really benefit from a weekly or fortnightly visit from anyone who is familiar with stitching, either tapestry or surface embroidery - or even better both!
We are looking for 2 to 3 volunteers to go into the prison together and would need people who could commit to at least a year on a weekly or fortnightly basis. This is a great opportunity for anyone who is a keen needleworker to help foster and encourage our stitchers in a prison where the group has been established for some time but is now needing more regular contact from a visiting tutor.
If you are interested in helping us at HMP Wakefield then please phone the office and chat to Kim Nightingale on 0207 931 8973 or email kim@finecellwork.co.uk
If you want to hear more about what working in our prison programmes is like then have a listen to a recent interview featuring our volunteer at HMP Frankland.
SOS BUTTONS AND SEWING MACHINES!

We are in need of your buttons! Anything pretty and not too worn would be fabulous. You can send them to us at Fine Cell Work, 38 Buckingham Palace Rd, London, SW1W 0RE.
You might also be able to help us with our quest to buy some new sewing machines. We are desperately in need of new machines, either domestic or industrial (two phase) to be used in our workshop at HMP Wandsworth. The sewing machines need to be suitable for soft furnishings and to be in good enough condition to give polish & finish to our products.
If you felt you might be able to help contribute a donation towards some new machines or would be willing to give a grant or sponsorship to cover the cost of a new machine we would be delighted to hear from you. We are looking to purchase several machines ranging in price from £265 - £1,000.
Alternatively, if you have a machine you feel might be suitable for our purposes and would be willing to donate it then we'd be delighted to hear from you.
Please contact either rebecca@finecellwork.co.uk or hilda@finecellwork.co.uk/0207 931 9998 if you feel you might be able to help.
Many thanks!
