Yes, all our products are handmade by prisoners throughout the UK. All embroidering and tapestry work is carried out by hand with embroidery needles. Our stitchers use machines only for finishing cushions, ie for adding the pad and where necessary piping. This work is also carried out in prison.

All our quilts are entirely handmade.

2. I have heard that it is possible to write to the prisoner who made my Fine Cell Work item to express thanks, how does this work?

We do encourage those customers who have purchased or been given FCW products to write to the person who made them. This helps to foster a feeling of connection and support between a prison inmate and someone in the outside world, it also encourages the stitchers to progress and gives their work added purpose. Information about how to write to the person who stitched your product is sent with the item.

3. What do the cushion inserts contain?

The cushion inserts are made up from duck and chicken feathers and obtained from quality suppliers.

4. How do I clean my Fine Cell Work products?  

We recommend that products are kept out of direct sunlight. As the embroidery on our products are stitched by hand, we suggest, where possible that they are not subjected to any intense cleaning treatment and that a damp cloth might be used to remove any stains should they occur. In the event that dry cleaning is considered we recommend consulting with your dry cleaning agent for advice on the treatment of particular fabrics.

All our quilts come with a care label.

5. I have seen an item I like, but the colours are not right, can I have it stitched in colours of my choice?

We are open to discussing ideas regarding alternative colourways with customers and will do our best where possible to realise specific requirements. Additional fees are generally applied for this service. Please contact us for more information. 

6. What if I can't find something I have seen or heard of on your site?

Please contact us by email or phone and we shall be happy to deal with any queries you may have. 

7. Can you send a product I have purchased as a gift to a friend?

Yes, we will happily organise this and will pop a note in with the delivery just add these details to the note section of your order or feel free to email us with any info - rebecca@finecellwork.co.uk

9. Can I pay by any other method aside from Paypal?

Yes, we are happy to accept cheques for orders made payable to Fine Cell Work and sent to us at : Fine Cell Work, 38 Buckingham Palace Road, London, SW1W 0RE. If  you wish to pay by credit card then this can be easily arranged over the phone by calling us on 0207 931 9974.
