COMMISSIONS

Quilts

Fine Cell Work been producing handmade quilts for over 11 years and although we are not known as well for our quilts as we are for our cushions we have stitched some amazing designs to a very high standard.

We have produced many different sized quilts and wall hangings from crib size through to King, from traditional to modern.  Our quilting specialists are all members of the Quilters Guild and have been stitching for many years, they bring with them a plethora of skills and insight and in particular are able to match the skills of our inmates with the project in hand.

The usual process for us to begin a commissioned piece is to arrange a meeting to discuss a client's needs and desires for their quilt. We will then work together with you to discuss colour, fabrics, design and any personalised information.

We are happy to incorporate client's fabrics into our quilts, such as shirts or textiles which are family heirlooms. We can also make quilts for christenings and births and incorporate names and dates.

The quilt shown here was made for a client in Norway, she had this to say about Fine Cell Work :

“I have been fortunate enough to have a bespoke double bedspread made by very skillful artists working within the Fine Cell Work organization.

The work is accurately and beautifully executed, the colours well chosen and harmonious, the standard of this piece of artwork being very high all over. On the reverse of the quilt is a lovely handwritten note stitched onto it, describing how the work was executed and who’s made it. It was definitely worth the waiting – It’s an heirloom and will last forever.

These men deserve all the admiration and support they can get – surely they will be able to turn their hands to all sorts of craft work later on in their next phase of life"
